Created in 2018, The Greensboro Jewish Federation Global Emergency Fund was established to distribute funds as needed to assist communities directly impacted by natural (hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, etc.) and other disasters (acts of violence, etc.).

Distributions since 2018 include: 

  • JDC - relief in South America, Bahamas Hurricane Dorian relief
  • COVID relief in India
  • Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles - Wildfire Relief
  • Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh - Tree of Life Relief
  • Outer Banks - Hurricane Dorian relief, Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC
  • HIAS and Faith Action Network - Border Crisis Immigrant Aid/Relief
  • Greater Miami Jewish Federation - Collapse of Champlain Towers
  • JDC - Earthquake Disaster Relief in Haiti
  • JFNA - Hurricane Ida Relief in Louisiana


WELCOMING REFUGEES

The Federation's Global Emergency Fund is now accepting donations to support efforts in resettling a family of Afghan refugees to Greensboro. Jewish Family Services is coordinating with Church World Service to work towards setting up an apartment and utilities, transportation, food, school, applying for benefits and more. Be sure to choose AFGHAN REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT for your donation to be designated to support this cause.
